Say No to Free Pitching

The Design Institute of Australia (DIA) has created a comprehensive document discouraging the use of free pitching.

In addition to an enlightening discussion about the pros and cons of pitching, competitions, and pro bono work, the document also contains a very useful matrix detailing the different types of pitching likely to be encountered, and how to recognise and react to them.

As the DIA policy paper says: “Amateurs pitch – professionals do not. When all is said and done, if you’re not good enough to get business without pitching, the only thing you’re really good at is discounting.”
